OUR SYMPATHY

Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Gnat, Bishop-Emeritus of the Eastern Diocese was called to the Lord this past Wednesday in Scranton. He will lie in state at St. Stanislaw Bishop & Martyr Cathedral in Scranton on Monday with prayers for the departed at 7 PM. His Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We are once again offering a free Vacation Bible School program, which will be held from July 10 to July 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Vacation Bible School affords the children a chance to learn about God through bible stories and activities in a fun and memorable way. A sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Thank you.

UNITED Y.M.S. OF R. GOLF TOURNAMENT

The United Y.M.S. of R. is running a golf outing - Saturday, August 19 at the Elma Meadows Golf Course. This fundraiser will benefit the P.N.C.C. and its youth. This year the Holy Mother of the Rosary will host the event. Sponsorships as well as donations are always gratefully accepted. For registration information contact Peter LaJeunesse at 913-0742.

KIDS ESCAPING DRUGS (K.E.D.)

The Ladies Guild would like to extend our thanks to all who contributed to our recent drive for Kids Escaping Drugs. The Renaissance Campus facilities offer a safe and supportive environment where adolescents can recover, learn responsibility, and re-enter the community with tools needed to live a drug free lifestyle. Every item donated makes each of us part of the recovery process. Thank you for your generous support.

DIOCESAN YOUTH RETREAT

Information on the Retreat, which will be held on August 6 – 10th is available on the table in the vestibule. Posters are on the bulletin boards. Please talk to Bishop John if you are interested in participating. Subsidies from the parish and our organizations will help defray the cost to a small amount. Please let us know!!

SPRING DANCE

Once again we would like to thank our hard working dedicated committee, parish family, friends and all those who donated raffle items for making the spring dance a success. Because of your efforts we made a profit of $4,018.69. Thank you! Tony & Anne Szpylman

REMINDER: PNU ELECTIONS

The Secretaries of Branch 27, 79, 85, 311 and District 4 will hold their respected election of officers on Wednesday, June 28th at 10:30 AM. All members are invited to attend and participate in the elections. A luncheon will be provided.

KUDOS TO OUR KIDS

Let’s hear it for Ava Engler who just graduated from Eastern Hills Preschool and will be attending kindergarten this fall! Ava completed her second year of gymnastics at Gymnastics Sports Academy. Hoorah to Luke Engler who graduated from Toddler University at the Independent Health YMCA. He will be attending preschool next year at Eastern Hills Preschool. Kudo’s and congratulations to the Engler Kids! Congratulations going out to Matthew Russo who graduated from 8th grade and is looking forward to attending high school. Matthew is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and received two music awards, an English award, a French award, and a technology award. He will be participating in JV football, swimming, and outdoor track for Depew. Matthew will be joining Depew's marching band in which he’ll play bass clarinet. He is an active boy scout who will be attending Camp Merz this summer. Matthew is a member of the youth organization and sings with the youth choir. Kudos and congratulations to David Russo who graduated from 11th grade and received awards for perfect attendance, exceptional attitude for band and technology, and the Sage Colleges Student Sage Award. David is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in cross county, indoor track, and outdoor track for Depew. He is a member of Depew's marching band, in which he plays trumpet. The marching band just performed in New York City this past May, near the Statue of Liberty! David has been a member of the orchestra pit for Depew's musicals the last two years. David is president of the youth organization, a lector, and an altar server.
